olympic

We definitely have Olympic fever at our house!  It's on all day and night.  I love everything about it...including the apparel.  Go USA!

blazing

I'm obsessed with blazers, and I have been dying for an ivory one.  So when Bloomingdales had their sale a few weeks ago I picked up this one...

aqua blazer girlfriend

It's back at full price now ($98), but I think I purchased it for $63.  I can't wait to wear it, but it has been way too hot (even at night).

This is another great option from Topshop...

I love the fact that you can wear white blazers with anything.  Wear it with a dress, skirt, shorts, or pants.  The Kardashians are always sporting white blazers.  Kim dresses it up here...

beating the heat

It has been so hot lately and I have not wanted to be in the kitchen.  I was looking for a dessert to make that was easy the other night and I remembered a recipe my Mom used to make when we were growing up.  It's easy, cool, and delicious.

The Blizzard Pie

cappuccino heath blizzard pie
oreo pie crust
cool whip (I used lite)
2 medium blizzards from DQ (I used cappuccino heath blizzard)

Pour blizzards in the oreo pie crust and spread evenly.  Spread the cool whip on the blizzard.  Refrigerate over night.  Sometimes I can't wait that long, but it will set up perfectly if you refrigerate it for 8+ hours.

How easy is that?

Mix and match with other DQ blizzards and graham cracker crust!  You can't go wrong with this dessert.

blog lovin'

I was introduced to bloglovin' a few weeks ago, and I love it.  I follow a lot of blogs, and sometimes I can't keep up with them all.  Bloglovin' has helped me organize my blogs (haha).  It will let you know when a blog you follow has a new post.  So instead of typing all the blogs I follow into my browser, I go to www.bloglovin.com and it will pull up all the blogs I follow with new posts.  How great is that?

I also changed my web address to www.amedleylife.com this week, so change your bookmark settings!

And follow me on bloglovin'...

Happy Friday!

grocery finds

I'm always looking for new food to try at the grocery store and I recently found a few that I wanted to share.  I'm still obsessed with the bob evans' mashed potatoes and sister schubert's pretzel rolls.
...

I have a serious addiction to sour patch kids.  Our house is always stocked!  When I heard they were making popsicles, I immediately ran to the store to pick some up.  They've been in our freezer for one week and they're almost gone!  I'm averaging two a day...and one popsicle is only 40 calories (can't beat that).

...

My mother-in-law told me about this grocery find and another blog reader told her (Hey Dar!).  Panera's (fat-free) poppy seed salad dressing is THE BEST fat-free salad dressing I have ever tasted.  It's only 15 calories for 2 tbsp.  You can get this at Target!

Clay has been begging me to pick up Archer Farms Pecan Cinnamon Roll pancake mix (sold at Target).  He had it a few weeks ago when he was home, and he's obsessed.  I made it for dinner last night, and I have to agree it was really good.  Especially if you have a sweet tooth. Pecans, cinnamon, icing, and syrup...I felt like Elf!

the gear

I'm on week 7 of my couch to 5k challenge.  I think it's addicting.  Clay is running with me and we have been trying (for the most part) to run outside.  Our last two runs were not pretty! When Clay signed up he insisted that he needed new headphones if he was going to keep going.  I told him to go pick some up and he came back with two bluetooth headphones.

jaybird freedom bluetooth earbud headphones

I thought that was completely unnecessary, but I love them! It will hook up to your phone through your bluetooth.  You can even talk on them.  I've answered the phone a couple of times when I've been running.  I didn't do much talking because I usually can't even breathe...

Obsessed with my recent lululemon purchase...

They're expensive, but they are worth every penny!

Nothing gets me going on a run like Flo Rida.  I love his new song whistle.

neimans for tarjay

neiman marcus for target

I couldn't be more excited that target (tarjay) is doing a collaboration with Neiman Marcus.  Two of my favorite stores!  They're going to feature designers like Tracy Reese, Tory Burch, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Alice + Olivia, Diane Von Furstenberg, and so many more.  You better believe that I will be the first one in those doors on December 1st.  I know it's only July and it seems like it's so far away, but it will be here before we know it.  My hairdresser (shout out to Grant!) always says "it's the 4th of July and then it's Christmas."

I love a good deal, and I found these look-a-likes recently...

the fourth

We had a really good 4th of July!  We went down to Golconda, IL to our river house on the Ohio.  We did some boating, skiing, and (definitely) eating.

We all brought appetizers and I decided I would bring pico de gallo and Mississippi Sin Dip.  I found the Mississippi Sin Dip recipe on Plain Chicken last December.  I made it for Taylor's Christmas Party and it was SO GOOD (shout out to Sophia Grace and Rosie).

I love, love, love Plain Chicken and I find myself going there when I just don't know what to make for dinner.

Mississippi Sin Dip

16oz sour cream
8oz cream cheese, softened
2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup chopped ham
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
fritos (for dipping)
french loaf (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl.  Put ingredients in a greased cassserole dish.  Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees F.

It was almost gone before I could get a picture!

american flag cake

Last year, I made this American Flag Tart recipe for the 4th of July.  It is absolutely delicious (and easy).  It was gone in record time.  Yes, I know, it's missing a few stripes and stars...it just wouldn't fit.

American Flag Cookie Tart

Ingredients:
1 package refrigerated sugar cookie dough
8 oz package cream cheese
2 tbsp butter (softened)
2-3 tbsp milk
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
blueberries and strawberries

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a cookie sheet and then press the cookie dough into a rectangular shape that is about 1/8" thick. Press your thumbs into the edges to create a scalloped border. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown. Remove from oven and cool completely.

While the crust is cooling, mix the cream cheese, butter, 2 Tbsp. milk, powdered sugar, and lemon juice in a medium bowl; beat until fluffy. Add more milk if necessary until spreading consistency is reached. Spread over the cooled cookie, leaving the scalloped border exposed.

Arrange the fruit in an American flag design. Blueberries will form the blue field in the upper left hand corner, and use the strawberries for the horizontal stripes. Cut into squares to serve.

Just downloaded this song by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen (call me maybe) to play on the boat (and add to my 5k playlist)...
